Crowther Associates Architects have produced designs for a new Community Diagnostic Centre at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-sea for the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The new Centre is located within the existing hospital buildings and the refurbished areas will provide; a new X-Ray suite, comprising 3 new imaging rooms, a CT scanner and two MRI scanners, all providing diagnostic imaging alongside consulting and treatment suites for outpatient services. This new department will increase the capabilities of the hospital and help to provide earlier diagnoses for the local community. It is part of the UK Government’s pledge to launch 40 new community diagnostic centres (CDCs) across England, with a target of providing around 2.8 million scans in their first full year of operation.
Phase One of the project is now completed and handed over, with the construction of phase 2 progressing and due for completion in Autumn 2024.
