Saltdean Extension

This expansion of a chalet bungalow in Saltdean was designed to fit in to a very steep and sloping site with limited and difficult access to the rear of the property from the road.

The extension is built in to the sloping topography, on an existing lower patio, but retaining the existing garden area above. The tall glazed gables were incorporated to allow large amounts of light in to this new deep plan family room, which measures over 45msq. These large areas of south facing glass are designed with deep reveals to limit solar gain in the summer and maximising this in the winter months

The project also incorporated a hip to gable roof conversion creating a new double bedroom with access to a small secret terrace hidden behind the roof pitch.
